Brunei Mosques Series

The Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Mosque was completed in 1997 after a year of construction work. The mosque was built as a commemoration and a gift from the Brunei Darussalam civil servants to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah on the occassion of His Majesty's 25th Anniversary of Accession to the Throne. Hence the Silver Jubilee name. The mosque was built with donations from the Muslim government civil servants as well as financial assistance from the Brunei Darussalam Islamic Religious Council.

The mosque is situated on a hill in Kampung Jangsak in Gadong about 14 kilometers from Bandar Seri Begawan. The cost of building the mosque was $4,136,070.00 and started being commissione on Thursday, 29th April 1999. It has a capacity of 1,200 worshippers.
